So I had read some bad reviews of the Village. It's been debated in this thread and a few people who had seen it told me it was dissappointing.
However, it was total garbage.
That was seriously one of the most stupid movies I've ever seen. Perhaps if absolutely none of my neurons had been firing, I could have enjoyed it... but, wait, no... it just sucked.
The M Night twist you've come to count on is obvious, the plot is ridiculously full of holes, and the character development left so much to be desired.
Good things about The Village: I enjoyed the score. Nemo gave me a quarter to buy Chewy Sprees. I didn't get any of the dreaded purple Chewy Sprees when I bought them.
It may be because I had wasted three hours watching Gangs of New York the night before that this movie set me off so much. I just was already expecting it to be below average, and it was so much worse. I felt like it was insulting my intelligence.
So it put me in a bad mood, which I carried with me afterwards to do my grocery shopping. My mood got worse when someone gave me a sample of C2, Coke's lower-carbohydrate soda. I liked it. I've gotten bitterly anti-low-carbohydrate-product-mass-marketing-for-idiots and I wanted to hate C2 so badly. But I found it refreshing. Blah.
The moral of my outpouring of bitterness is that I'm not going to see any more movies this week. Those five hours could have been spent in any number of different ways like controlling a former president or listening to Steven Seagal MP3s. |
